VIV AND INGRID
One was a traveler, trekking through exotic lands across the Atlantic. The other was a designer, focused on fashion runways in the city. Postcards kept them in touch while apart; a sewing machine brought them togetherÉ
Vivian Wang and Ingrid Chen met as young girls and remained close friends through adulthood. Growing up in the Bay Area, both completed their undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley. Vivian graduated with a Business degree, emphasizing in Marketing; Ingrid received her BA in Physiology.
Preferring to enhance the human body rather than dissect it, Ingrid switched her pursuit to an MFA in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art College. Meanwhile, Vivian traded the corporate scene for a life on the road, backpacking through Europe, Asia and Australia.
In January of 1999, while discussing the latest fashion trends over coffee, they realized that they were a design team waiting to happen. Vivian with her free-spirited flair, Ingrid with her refined detailing, both obsessive compulsive; they set out together to create a new philosophy in accessible luxuries for the modern woman.

Jeanine Payer
Poetry hand-engraved onto precious metals is how San Francisco-based jewelry designer Jeanine Payer creates her collections of emotionally engaging yet subtle jewelry. There are few things as intimate as wearing poetry against your skin, as many of her clients can attest. Her international following includes Jessica Lange, Susan Sarandon, Mick Jagger and Johnny Depp. Payer has also worked closely to design custom pieces for Meg Ryan, Seal, Sheryl Crow, and Debra Messing.
Growing up in Southern California, Payer was surrounded by an artistic family who encouraged her to pursue creative expression in all its forms, whether it was keeping journals or studying sculpture and drawing. ÒI believe in pieces having a wonder about them. I like making things that are at once both powerful and private,Ó says Payer.
One of Payer's first creations was designed as a gift: a tiny book engraved with a beloved poem by Rainer Maria Rilke that only the wearer knew was there. Today, PayerÕs designs continue to be graced with the words of both contemporary and ancient voices such as Emily Dickinson, Rumi, Lao Tzu, Jane Hirshfield, and Ovid. "Each person brings their own particular meaning to the jewelry, therefore each piece becomes highly endowed," says the designer. "These pieces become talismanic as they are chosen to mark emotional and philosophical moments in each personÕs life."
Payer and her highly-skilled team of fifteen metalsmiths craft three collections a year in a bustling atelier in the historic Phelan Building San FranciscoÕs original jewelry center. The jewelry is on display in her retail store, located just a few floors below the workshop, as well as in over 250 specialty stores worldwide including Fred Segal in Los Angeles, Barneys New York and Japan.

Something Blue
A native Californian, Angela Schade began her jewelry career at the
early age of twelve. While other girls her age were playing with dolls, she
was busy designing and marketing her first line, an eclectic mix of found
objects & beads. "I used whatever I could find, copper wires, broken
glass, anything...", says Angela, "I was obsessed." She later formalized her
education by studying metalsmithing and jewelry design in both London
and Los Angeles.
Back in L. A. and apprenticing with an award winning jewelry designer,
Angela discovered her talent for working with Brides. She recalls their
frustration, "It was the most important day of their lives with everything
planned down to the last flower, but when it came to accessories, the
selection was so limited they could never find what they were looking for ".
So Angela created a line of jewelry specifically for the Bride. A Collection
that was fashionably current yet still achieved the versatility to be enjoyed
long after the wedding day. This debut Collection, inspired by Couture &
Designer bridal fashions, was so well received that, in 1994 she ventured
out on her own & Something Blue Adornment was born.
A few years later, after discovering a beautiful pair of vintage earrings at
an Estate sale, Angela was inspired once again, and created a tiara--the
first in a growing Collection of headpieces. Now over 40 styles include;
Tiaras, Combs, Headbands, Hairpins & the latest addition, flexible &
versatile Hair-Vines.
Working from her studio nestled in the foothills of Southern California,
AngelaÕs designs continue to evolve. Most of her creations begin with a
pencil sketch, working out many of the details on paper. Once the design
is complete a sample is produced, further adjustments are made and
finally the piece is completed. Every item is individually hand made to
order, with genuine freshwater pearls, Swarovski¨ crystals & rhinestones,
metal leaves and flowers. Sometimes she incorporates vintage elements
such as antique jewelry, beads & millinery objects. "I guess my obsession
will never end." says Angela.
AngelaÕs jewelry & accessories have been featured in; Martha Stewart
Weddings, Brides, Bridal Guide, Weddings of Distinction, L.A. Bride,
Wedding Gowns, Valley, Accessories, Accent, The L.A. Times & The Star

Lenora Dame
Rethinking vintage is how Lenora Dame would describe her approach to jewellery design. A ten year career in advertising fuelled her creativity, but it was the frequent visits to flea markets, antique shops and auctions that were and continue to be the inspiration for an aesthetic that is original, familiar and forward at the same time.
Eclectic combinations of old and new materials, wood, glass, textiles, found objects, lucite, paper and twine are commonly found in her unique creations. The unexpected mix of materials and colour define stand out pieces for the bold spirited, while more subtle combinations make the line accessible to a broad audience.
